Paying for Your CDL Training

Cost is the number one reason people put off getting their CDL. A commercial license is one of the few credentials that can pay for itself inside a year — and there’s usually more than one way to get you into a truck.

TNT students use three funding paths. Most use one. Some combine two.

Three Ways to Pay

Climb Credit financingA lender that works with career training schools. Finances up to your full tuition, less a deposit paid to TNT. Utah Workforce ServicesA state program. TNT is an approved training provider, so DWS funding can be used here. Pay TNT directlyCash, check, or card — in full, or spread out on a payment plan arranged with the school.

You can combine more than one. Whichever you use, start by picking a program — see the programs and what each one covers, then call (801) 200-3914 for its tuition figure. Every path asks for that number.

“3 weeks later I have CDL”

This is where you go with questions regarding school, payment options, how to obtain loans and grants… If you are thinking there is a reason you ‘just can’t do this’, go talk to Tony. I was one of those people … who thought there was no way I could do this…

How It Works

  1. Pick your program and get your tuition figure. Class A Standard, Class A Accelerated, Class B, Refresher, or Endorsements — see what each one covers. Call (801) 200-3914 and we’ll tell you which fits your situation and what it costs.
  2. Choose how you’re paying. Apply to Climb online — five steps: your information, course information, optional co-borrower, disclosures, and confirmation. Or start a DWS application at your local Workforce Services office. Or call us to pay the school directly, in full or on a payment plan.
  3. Finish the paperwork. Climb may request proof of residency or income after you submit, and will tell you what to send. DWS runs its own eligibility process — we handle the school-side paperwork for that. Paying TNT directly needs nothing extra.
  4. Enroll and start. Rolling enrollment — start this week. No waiting for a class to fill.
  5. Train, test, and get to work. On-site third-party testing, no DMV wait, and lifetime job placement support after you pass.

The Career Math

$80,000+What company drivers can earn per year, depending on route and experience
3 weeksTime to a licensed trade on the accelerated track
95%+Of our students pass the CDL exam on the first attempt

The national driver shortage isn’t closing, and a commercial license is one of the few credentials that can pay for itself inside a year.

That’s the case for the career. Whether a particular loan makes sense for your situation is a decision for you and the lender — we’ll give you the tuition number and the application link, and Climb will show you your terms before you commit to anything.

Common Questions

Which option is right for me?

They fit different situations. DWS funding comes from the state and depends on their eligibility criteria, not ours. Climb financing depends on their approval and lets you pay monthly over time. Paying us directly, in full or on a plan, involves no third party and no application.

Most people don’t know what they qualify for until they ask. Call (801) 200-3914 and we’ll go through all three with you.

How much do I need to pay up front?

It depends on the program and which path you use. Climb finances up to your full tuition less a deposit you pay TNT directly. DWS may cover part or all of your tuition. Paying the school directly can be in full or spread out on a plan.

Call (801) 200-3914 for your program’s figures before you commit to anything.

Do I have to use financing?

No. Financing is one of three options, not a requirement. Students pay us directly, use DWS funding, finance through Climb, or combine them. Whichever you choose has no effect on your training or your place in the program.

What if I have bad credit, or no credit at all?

You still have paths. DWS eligibility is not based on your credit. Climb works with all kinds of credit backgrounds, including people with no credit history at all, and checking your options there is a soft pull that won’t affect your score. A payment plan with the school is a conversation with us.

Call (801) 200-3914 — a credit problem does not mean you’re out of options.

Can I combine more than one option?

Often yes. A common combination is DWS covering part of the tuition with financing or a payment plan covering the rest. Call and we’ll map out what works for your situation.

Can I just set up a payment plan with TNT?

Yes, we offer payment plans directly through the school. Terms depend on your program and your situation, so call (801) 200-3914 and we’ll work it out with you.

How soon can I start training?

We run rolling enrollment, so you’re not waiting for a class to fill. Call us and we’ll line up your start date with whichever funding path you’re using.

About Climb Financing

What do I need to apply to Climb?

Your legal name, contact info, Social Security number, and income — plus your program name, tuition figure, and start date. Call us at (801) 200-3914 for the program details before you start. If you’re adding a co-borrower, you’ll need the same information for them.

Does applying to Climb hurt my credit?

No. To check the rates and terms you qualify for and your eligibility, Climb conducts a soft credit pull that will not affect your credit score. Once a loan is accepted and funded, Climb will request your full credit report from one or more consumer reporting agencies, which is considered a hard credit pull and may affect your credit.

What if Climb doesn’t approve me?

You’re not out of options. The usual next step is to reapply with a co-borrower — there’s no limit on how many times you can apply, and every application is a soft credit pull, so it costs you nothing to try again. Climb will also email you an Adverse Action Notice explaining the decision.

Other things that help: check your credit report for errors at AnnualCreditReport.com and dispute anything inaccurate. And call us at (801) 200-3914 — DWS funding is a completely separate process with separate criteria, and we offer payment plans through the school.

Do I need a co-borrower for a Climb loan?

No, it’s optional. But by Climb’s own figures, applications with a co-borrower are 17% more likely to be approved and may qualify for a lower rate. A co-borrower agrees to make payments if you can’t — make sure whoever you ask understands that.

If I finance with Climb, who do I pay and when?

Climb uses a loan servicing partner to collect payments. Once your loan is funded, Climb sends you setup instructions — you can enroll in autopay or pay manually online or by check. Most borrowers pick autopay, since it takes 0.25% off the interest rate and there’s nothing to remember.

Your first payment is due one month after Climb funds your loan. You may be able to make smaller payments, or none at all, while you’re still in training.

Questions about your loan: live chat at climbcredit.com or email hello@climbcredit.com.

With a Climb loan, does the money come to me?

No. You pay TNT a deposit directly, and Climb sends the rest of the tuition funding straight to the school once we’ve verified you’re enrolled. You don’t handle the loan money yourself.

Can I lower my interest rate on a Climb loan?

Climb takes 0.25% off your rate if you enroll in autopay and keep a valid bank account connected. It applies to interest-bearing Climb products only. DWS funding is not a loan, and a payment plan with the school is arranged directly with us — call for those terms.

What if I fall behind on Climb payments?

Climb offers deferment options for qualifying borrowers — contact them directly to find out what you’re eligible for. If you’re on a payment plan with the school instead, call us at (801) 200-3914 and we’ll work it out with you.
