A refresher is for drivers who have already been behind the wheel and need to sharpen up — after time away, before a skills test, or because a carrier has asked for retraining. There is no fixed length. We meet your skills where they are today and go from there.
Who the refresher is for
Coming back after time away
You held a CDL or trained before and stepped away from driving. We help you rebuild the skills and get current.
You need to pass the skills test
Targeted practice on the exact maneuvers the examiner scores, so you walk in ready rather than guessing.
A carrier wants you retrained
Some employers ask for a refresher before you start. We provide the seat time and the documentation they need.
How it works
No fixed weeks. A refresher is exactly as long as you need it to be and no longer — some drivers need a few sessions, others a little more. A short assessment tells us which.
Skills assessment
We put you behind the wheel and find exactly where you are solid and where you are rusty.
Targeted practice
We drill the specific maneuvers and road skills you need — backing, shifting, braking, city and highway — and skip what you already have.
Test or road-ready, on site
If you need the skills test you take it here with our third-party examiner. If it is for a carrier, we document your training.
How you will pay for it
Utah Workforce Services (DWS)
If you qualify, DWS may fund your training. How much they cover depends on your situation and their determination — we handle the paperwork and help you find out.
Employer-paid
If a carrier is sending you for a refresher, they often cover it. We coordinate the billing and the training documentation directly with them.
Self-pay
Because a refresher is sized to you, we quote you accurately for exactly what you need — no padded flat rate.
Common questions
How long does a refresher take?
It depends on your skill level — that is what the assessment is for. Some drivers need only a few sessions to be test-ready. We will not stretch it out.
What if my CDL has lapsed?
Tell us your situation and we will tell you exactly what you need. If your CDL has expired you may need a renewal rather than a refresher, and we will point you to the right path.
Do I test at the DMV?
No. We are a third-party testing site — if you need the skills test, you take it where you train, in the same truck.
Can my employer pay for it?
Yes, many carriers do. Give us their contact and we will handle the billing and the training documentation directly.
